Community-Based Services and Programs in Middle Georgia

Sarah Chapman Swinson was born and raised in Eatonton, GA. One of her favorite aspects of growing up in this wonderful small town is the overwhelming sense of community and support shared among its residents. During her senior year at Putnam County High School, she began applying for local scholarships and was so blessed to have been the recipient of the New Life Outreach scholarship. This generous scholarship, provided by community members, helped her attend Mercer University to pursue her undergraduate education.

This scholarship was the beginning of many stepping stones that led her to become accepted into the College of Pharmacy at The University of Georgia and, four years later, graduate Magna Cum Laude as a Doctor of Pharmacy. Today, she lives in rural South Georgia with her husband, the pharmacy manager of the local Walmart. She also works part-time at a long-term care pharmacy in Dublin.

Marcus Swain was born and raised in Eatonton, GA. His parents are David and Charlene Swain. While attending Putnam County High School, Marcus was presented the $2,000 NLOM College Scholarship Award for his academic achievements and community services during his senior year. He was blessed to attend Benedict College in Columbia, SC, and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Mathematics.

While attending Benedict College, Marcus studied his passion for singing and received the opportunity to sing throughout the United States, the White House, and overseas. As a result of the support he received from his parents, Putnam County High School, Benedict College, and NLOM, he is now working as a teacher for Putnam County Head Start.

Sharon Outler was raised in the small town of Sandersville, GA. As a young child, Sharon always knew the importance of education and that education was the key to success. She knew that if she worked hard, neither the boundaries of her small town nor the limitations of her family’s income could hold her back from being successful. With the support of family and friends, many prayers, and the financial contribution from New Life Outreach Christian Ministries, Sharon was allowed to pursue her dreams of higher education. Her love of education and determination to succeed led her to the University of Georgia, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

After graduating, Sharon decided to further her education at Valdosta State University, where she earned a Master of Arts in Teaching. She is now a middle school teacher and tries to pass on her passion for education to her students each day. Sharon resides in the Metro Atlanta area with her husband and two sons and is awaiting the arrival of her daughter.

Meshandria McKinney’s hometown is in Monticello, GA. She has been a member of New Life Outreach Christian Center since childhood. She is the daughter of Towonder Dennis and Antonio Gantt. She has been a spiritual dance leader, junior usher, and choir member. She resides in Bonaire, GA, with her husband, Eldrick McKinney, and four-year-old son, Braxton McKinney.

Meshandria was awarded a college scholarship at New Life Outreach Christian Center in 2001. She graduated from Middle Georgia College in 2003 with an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Valdosta State University in 2005.

She became a certified teacher through Wesleyan College and is attending Mercer University to obtain a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and an endorsement in Reading and Math. She has taught pre-K, first, and second grade. She is currently teaching first grade at Jeffersonville Elementary.

TanNecia Brown graduated salutatorian of her high school class. She entered the University of Georgia as a freshman in 2009. Here, she started a new journey different from any other she had traveled. Receiving an education from one of the top universities in the state, TanNecia knew that it would be pretty expensive. New Life Outreach Ministries assisted her with her financial obligation by rewarding her with a scholarship of $1,000. By becoming a recipient of this particular scholarship, she could focus more on her academic success and less on the finances of her college education.

While at the University of Georgia, she volunteered at Saint Mary’s Hospital and became a member of the Physician Assistant Club and the Human Development and Family Science Association, where she served as treasurer. During her last semester, she was blessed to have her name placed on the Dean’s List. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Science. She plans to join a Physician Assistant Program graduating class of 2017. Here, she will receive a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies.
